A concious break from using IRC, and in particular #aber. Such breaks can last anything from 2 hours to 2 months, although they are more likely to be closer to the beginning of that scale and never last nearly as long as they are planned for. IRC holidays are taken when channel members feel that the channel has changed for the worse somehow, and it is believed that if an IRC holiday is taken, the channel will have returned to what they consider to be acceptable by the time they return. Dissapointment and reluctant acceptance inevitably follows, further adding to the channel member's bitterness.
